This is the Weblog of the Wits School of Education.   It is publically accessible.
It consists of research briefs, opinion pieces, contributions to debate and the like, put up by members of the academic staff of the School. The opinions expressed in these posts are those of the individual(s) concerned, and should not necessarily be taken to be those of the University or the Wits School of Education.

The purpose of ths Blog
1300 days ago

This professional Blog is an experiment in the Wits School of Education.  It is an opportunity to explore whether this format of writing is useful in supporting our own learning and development as a professional and academic community.

While we are all encouraged and required to put ‘pen to paper’ and disseminate our thinking in books and academic journals it is my hope that this professional blog is treated as another platform that may be of interest to readers and writers.  As educators and academics this Blog gives us an opportunity to explore different ways of learning, of seeing and being- this needs to be modeled to our students – who are tasked with making qualitative improvements in the public school sector.

The challenge in the short term is to assess whether this Blog can serve in supporting us in reflecting on who we are, how we do our work, what constrains us and what enables us. And maybe in the long term the Blog becomes a tool to think and sharpen our ideas about professional practice and school improvement

For now I invite you have your say on the Wits School of Education Professional Blog and it is my hope that a variety of themes or categories for discussion emerge.
