PHISHING ATTACKS ON CAMPUS EMAIL
CNS has noted that another Phishing email was sent out to a large number of Wits users in the last few days. The email states that the user’s mailbox storage limit has been reached and in order to be able to send emails they needed to upgrade their email account by clicking on the link.
CNS and the University will never request that users update their login credentials via a link in an email. This scam is similar to banking phishing scams and should be viewed with the utmost caution.
Please do not respond to these emails or click on any links within these emails.
HERE ARE SOME IMPORTANT GUIDELINES TO FOLLOW:
• NEVER provide your password to ANYONE, not even to CNS !!!
• DO NOT reply to emails asking for passwords or any form of identity.
• DO NOT provide or type passwords on links that were provided within emails.
Always at your service
